World No. 1 Lorena Ochoa posted a three- under 69 on Saturday to move past Stacy Prammanasudh and into first after three rounds of the Navistar LPGA Classic.
Ochoa finished 54 holes at 13-under-par 203 and is one clear of Prammanasudh, who bogeyed her last to fall out of a share of first and into a round of one- over 73.
Virada Nirapathpongporn and Maria Hjorth both carded rounds of two-under 70 on Saturday and are tied for third place at minus-nine at the Senator Course at Capitol Hill Golf Club.
Two members of the victorious U.S. Solheim Cup team are next on the leaderboard. Angela Stanford fired a seven-under 65 in the third round to take fifth at eight-under-par 208, one shot better than Nicole Castrale, who shot a 70 on Saturday.
Prammanasudh took a three-shot lead into Saturday's third round and parred her first five holes. She missed a nine-foot par putt at the sixth to cut her lead to two, and that's how it stayed when both her and Ochoa birdied the par-five eighth.
Prammanasudh reclaimed her overnight margin at the 10th even though she missed the green. She holed a 15-foot birdie putt from the fringe to go back ahead by three.
At the 12th, Prammanasudh missed another birdie effort from the fringe. Ochoa knocked her approach to three feet and drained her birdie effort to get within two.
Prammanasudh drove into the rough at 14 and had a horrible stance. That led to a bogey and a one-shot lead, but that was short-lived for Prammanasudh. Ochoa sank an 18-footer for birdie at the 15th to tie for first.
Both Ochoa and Prammanasudh had good looks at birdie at the 16th, but missed. Prammanasudh holed a clutch five-footer for par to keep the pace with Ochoa, but things fell apart at 18.
At the closing hole, both leaders had 12 feet for birdie. Prammanasudh ran her birdie try almost four feet past the stick, while Ochoa's lipped out on the left side. She tapped in for par to get in the house at 13-under par.
Prammanasudh's par effort stayed above ground, meaning she will trail Ochoa with one round to go.
"I did not think I hit it that hard," Prammanasudh said referring to her three-putt bogey at the last. "Just a misjudgment, I guess."
Ochoa can pad her numbers in an amazing 2007 campaign. She has six wins already and has captured her last three starts.
"I like my position. I'm ready to come tomorrow and play the final round," said Ochoa, who has 15 career wins on the LPGA Tour. "I think it's not good to think too much ahead of what could happen if I win. I'm just going to try to get here tomorrow, do the same that I always do, my same routine, and just enjoy my day."
Karrie Webb (69), Lisa Fernandes (70) and Lindsey Wright (75) are knotted in seventh place at minus-six.
Giulia Sergas (68), Eva Dahllof (66), Meaghan Francella (72) and Janice Moodie (73) are tied for 10th place at five-under-par 211.
